Why does my startup need its own domain name?
A domain like yourbusiness.co.uk gives you a professional address that matches your brand and stays the same however your business grows. Because it's registered to you, you can change website platform or supplier later without losing the address customers already know.
Which domain ending should I choose?
For most UK businesses a .co.uk is the familiar choice, and .uk is a shorter alternative. A .com can suit businesses that sell internationally. Some register more than one and point the extras at the main website. We'll check what's available and help you pick something short, memorable and easy to spell out over the phone.
Someone else registered our domain for us. Is that a problem?
It can be, because the registered owner controls the domain. If a friend, relative or old supplier registered it, we'll help move it into your business's name and an account you control. For .uk domains, Nominet's online services let the registrant move to a new registrar or update details if the original contact can't be reached.
What security do you set up?
We turn on two-step sign-in for your domain and website accounts, set strong unique passwords, and store recovery codes somewhere safe. We can also set up a password manager so you're not reusing passwords. It's the simple, sensible protection that stops most account takeovers before they start.
Can you connect my domain to my website?
Yes. Whether your site is on Shopify or another host, we add the right DNS records so both the www and non-www versions load and your security certificate works. If you're moving to new website hosting, we time the change so your website keeps working while it happens.
What happens if my domain renewal lapses?
Your website can stop working, and after a grace period someone else may be able to register the name. That's why we set domains to auto-renew, check the payment details are current and note the renewal date in your handover record, so it never catches you out.
